The engineers who still know your stack.

"Who still knows how this works?" That's the question we kept hearing from organizations running critical .NET Framework systems. We decided to be the answer.

Chesapeake Foundry was founded by Joe, a Microsoft stack veteran with 30 years of hands-on experience in the systems most developers have moved on from.

That career started in QA at a government contractor, moved into application development with VB3 and Crystal Reports, then into VB6 and SQL Server work at a Third Party Administration insurance firm. A move to Matrix Consulting in Rockville brought classic ASP development for Black & Decker — and a direct hire from there led to years of building and maintaining B2B ecommerce platforms, consumer web properties, and internal tools across classic ASP and early ASP.NET.

After Stanley Tools acquired Black & Decker, Joe moved to Stanley Security, where he architected an eServices platform — a customer-facing portal for commercial alarm clients to view and manage their own account data. Further stops included ProtectionOne and ADT, a ground-up product rewrite at NextLogik, and ultimately ClearOne Advantage, where working across a wide range of legacy systems while watching the industry constantly push rewrites made one thing clear:

These systems aren't problems to be solved and discarded. They run real businesses. They have history, constraints, and accumulated logic that no greenfield rewrite will reproduce on the first try. And the developers who actually know them are a vanishing resource.

Chesapeake Foundry exists to be that resource.

Our values

Honest assessment first

We tell you what we find, not what you want to hear. If something can be maintained, we'll say so. If it's a liability, we'll say that too.

Deep craft

Legacy code deserves the same engineering care as any modern system. We document what we touch, test before we ship, and leave the codebase better than we found it.

Long-term partnership

Legacy systems need sustained attention. We work as ongoing partners — not one-time consultants who move on after the engagement ends.

Founder-led, specialist-supported.

Chesapeake Foundry is a founder-led operation. That means when you hire us, you're working directly with a senior engineer who has 30 years of hands-on experience in this stack — not a junior developer or a rotating account manager.

For larger engagements or specialized requirements, we bring in senior engineers from a vetted network of professionals we've worked alongside over the years — people who know this stack and share our approach to legacy work. These are not staffing agency placements. They're colleagues.

Direct Access

No layers, no overhead. You have a direct line to the person actually writing the code.

Senior Network

We bring in the right specialists only when the project needs them, keeping costs low and quality high.

Mid-Atlantic Based

Based in Maryland. We're in your time zone, understand your market, and can be on-site when it matters.

Long-Term View

We don't build to flip. We build to maintain, ensuring your system stays stable for the next decade.
